In a blog post today, Vimeo, owned by IAC after a purchase in 2006, has announced that it has acquired New York City-based Livestream for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition allows Vimeo to use Livestream’s infrastructure to launch a new live streaming service, Vimeo Live.

From the post:

We understand that professional live streaming is complex and stressful, and that’s why we are teaming up with Livestream. Their incredible team was one of the first to invest in live before it was mainstream. Today, they power over 10 million events a year, and have built a suite of innovative products ranging from the world’s most versatile live event camera, to live production software and switchers, to production services to ensure your event goes perfectly. Once our acquisition is completed, these products will become part of a single powerful live offering, giving you all the tools you need to capture, edit, broadcast, and archive your live events in one workflow.

The Vimeo live service offers live creators a choice of three packages, each with its own feature set, including real-time chat, scheduling, and unlimited viewers.

The $75/month “Pro Live” service offers the ability to stream live for 5 hours a month, with a storage capability of 3TB per month, in addition to an Ad-free player.

The $300/month “Business Live” services offers an unlimited streaming hour capability (with a 5-hour per event limit), and archive storage of 5TB per month.

Companies with a higher requirement for live streaming can choose the “Custom Live” package starting at $800 a month, which brings 24/7 live streams with a 99.99% uptime SLA and other features.

These packages are priced with an annual purchase.  Month to month prices are $135 and $450 for the two lower-level packages.
